disposable single use items are used to insure your safety. All
reusable instruments are cleaned, disinfected and sterilized
exceeding recommendations by the American Dental Association and
Center for Disease Control. Water lines use water purifying tablets
and are flushed with antimicrobials regularly. Hand pieces (drills)
are sterilized with state-of-the-art sterilization units
specifically designed for this purpose. All surfaces in the
treatment rooms are cleaned, disinfected, and covered with
disposable plastic (where applicable) which is discarded after each
patient.
Digital X-rays
To improve your care we've invested in a new
way of looking into your mouth—a procedure that's fast, and
incredibly precise – digital x-rays. Even more amazing is that we
get an image immediately that is large, clear, and accurate, right
next to your chair…ready for discussion. Digital x-ray technology
speeds and simplifies the diagnostic part of your treatment, and
most importantly allows us to provide a much higher level of care.
Clear Picture, Clear Understanding, &
Clearly Improved Care
Digital radiography makes for fast and easy
evaluation of even the most complex dental conditions. The
instantaneous, clear computer screen image allows us to immediately
discuss the findings with you. Together, we can examine the outer
and inner structures and tissues of each tooth, the surrounding
roots, root canals, and gums.
Fewer Rays, Fantastic Results
Previous dental treatment required long series
of x-rays to determine what was going on in someone's mouth. Then
there was time in the darkroom, developing the x-rays in chemicals,
followed by even more time spent examining films on a special light
board. But this cumbersome process is entirely outmoded by digital
radiography. Now, you simply relax in the dental chair while we
briefly position a tiny 'sensor' inside your mouth. The sensor acts
like a miniature VCR camera, having a chip that is sensitive to
x-rays, rather than light. As a result, you're exposed to 90% less
radiation than with traditional x-ray techniques.
We receive a
highly detailed image almost instantaneously on our computer
screen. These images have all the conveniences of other digitized
images: we can rotate it, magnify it, adjust it for contrast, and
even color-code it for educational purposes. For insurance purposes,
referrals, or patient education, it can be easily, inexpensively and
faithfully reproduced any number of times.
Intra-Oral Camera
It used to be that when your dentist wanted to
let you know what was going on inside your mouth, he or she took a
look around and then verbally described what they saw. Perhaps you'd
even get to look in a mirror, squinting and searching around, trying
to understand what he was talking about. But now, thanks to a
wonderful new technology called an intra-oral camera, you can relax
in your chair while simultaneously observing a real-time movie of
the inside of your mouth in a digital format, magnified 35 times its
normal size, on an adjacent TV monitor! Our intra-oral camera &
digital imaging allow us to observe, diagnose and communicate
clearly what’s going on inside your mouth, while reducing your
exposure to radiation. Not only does this make it simple to see and
understand what Dr. Lunn is diagnosing, but it makes it simple for
us to keep incredibly accurate records from one visit to the next.
Surgical Telescopes
When Dr. Lunn works on your teeth, he'll most likely be wearing a
funny-looking pair of glasses. These 'glasses' are actually surgical
telescopes that allow him to see and evaluate intricate details as
he works, making tiny but important adjustments to the procedure
that would go unnoticed with the naked eye.
